Misja's biography

What better way to kick off a career than mixing In Trance We Trust 001? Misja Helsloot (born 21-1-1973 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands) couldn't wish himself a better start! He was asked to do the first edition of this renowned series of high quality trance mixes on Black Hole Recordings in 1998.

The success of this mix compilation resulted in many DJ bookings. In the following years Misja travelled the globe and rocked clubs and festivals from Cocorico in Italy to the Opium Garden in Miami and The Dome in Tell Aviv. Back home he played at major gigs, such as Impulz, Trance Energy, Dance Valley, Fabulous and the afterparty of FFWD Dance Parade in Rotterdam.

Looking for additional ways to exploit his passion for music, Misja built a studio at home and in 2000 he made his debut as a producer. A highlighted landmark is the release (September 2002) of “Misja Helsloot - First Second” on his very own Gesture Music label. This track immediately reaches ‘The Essential Mix’ by the likes of Paul van Dyk, who spins the track a lot.

Misja reaches many fans worldwide with his online radioshows, such as ‘First Sessions’, ‘True To Trance’ and his highly respected ‘Creative Sessions’ on Vonyc Radio (Vandit). Nowadays he runs his monthly show ‘All Exclusive’ on Afterhours.FM. And every three months The Airborn Residency takes off, literally: Misja's exclusive broadcast on all flights of Dutch airline Transavia. The sky appears to be no limit!

Since 2006 Misja organizes trance parties himself: Create Events. Thrillseekers, Rank1, Sander van Doorn, Sean Tyas and Aly & Fila have spinned the creative decks, just to name a few. Part of the concept is Create Records, the release platform for Misja’s productions. This label will proudly present Misja’s solo artist debut album “All Inclusive” in June 2009. The release party for this album will feature an 8 hour solo performance by Misja on June 26. This “All Exclusive” party (Club Speakers, Delft, NL) will also be the kick-off for Misja’s world tour to promote the album.
